Learning Together

As a part of the Photojournalism program at RIT, I worked on a senior story, which is a year long story that accumulates everything we learned in the last three years.

“Learning Together” is a short film that explores the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education system in Upstate New York. The way students learn has had to change during this pandemic, as teachers, students and families alike struggle through what has been called “pandemic education”. I was curious to see the challenges and successes throughout the academic year as it has had an impact on not only myself but my fellow classmates. Over the course of the 2020-2021 academic school year I followed two different families in the Gates Chili Central school district in Rochester N.Y. who are dealing with different learning situations such as learning disabilities and the line between being a parent and a teacher.
